UCAT ANZ: registration dates, the test window, and the four subtests

The dates that matter
Registration opens in March and closes in May, and booking a seat closes before the testing window begins. The test itself is sat once, at a test centre, in a window that runs across July and August, and the result is released in September in time for university applications.
Two practical consequences. The test can be sat only once per year, so there is no resit inside a cycle, and seats at the most convenient centres and times go first. Register in March, book the seat immediately, then plan preparation backwards from the date you booked.
UCAT ANZ publishes the exact dates for each cycle, and they shift slightly year to year, so confirm them on the official site rather than from a forum.
The four subtests
The whole test is sat in one sitting of roughly two hours. The question counts and timings below are the current UCAT ANZ format. Note how little time each question gets: the binding constraint in this test is pace, not difficulty.

How the result is used
The three cognitive subtests are reported as scaled scores and added into a total. Situational Judgement is reported separately as a band rather than added to that total.
Universities then use the result differently: some rank on the total, some set a minimum, and some weight it against the ATAR and an interview. Check the admissions page for the pathway you are applying through, in the year you apply.
For WA school leavers the usual sequence is ATAR plus UCAT for an interview invitation, then the interview round. Everest Tutoring teaches all three stages, and the UCAT course is deliberately online so students anywhere in WA can sit in the same class.
What preparation should look like
Timed sets from the first week, not untimed practice. The most common self-preparation error is months of accurate, slow work followed by a first timed mock four weeks out that goes badly.
